Effective Date: May 1, 2025
At Susitna Animal Urgent Care LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”), our goal is to provide timely, compassionate care to pets in urgent or emergency situations. To ensure an efficient experience for both clients and staff, please review our policy regarding appointments, walk-ins, emergency care, and post-visit follow-up.
Walk-In & Same-Day Services
We are a walk-in facility and do not guarantee appointments for urgent or emergency visits. While clients may call ahead to check wait times or request to be added to our call-in list, we reserve the right to prioritize cases based on medical necessity and do not guarantee specific appointment times.
Hours of Operation
Monday – Friday, 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Walk-ins welcome throughout business hours
Wait times may vary depending on the urgency of other cases
Patient Triage & Emergency Care
Patients are seen based on medical urgency, not order of arrival. Our staff will triage each pet upon arrival to determine the appropriate priority level at their sole discretion. While we strive to treat pets with life-threatening conditions immediately, treatment timing may vary based on facility capacity and resource availability.
Examples of emergencies include:
- Difficulty breathing or collapse
- Seizures
- Trauma (vehicular injury, large wounds, etc.)
- Profuse bleeding
- GDV/Bloat
- Sudden severe illness
For less critical but still urgent cases, we strive to treat your pet as quickly and efficiently as possible.
After-Hours Emergencies
We do not provide overnight care or 24-hour emergency services. If your pet requires immediate care outside of our business hours, please contact or go directly to:
PET Emergency Treatment (Anchorage)
Phone: 907-274-5636
Web: www.petemergencyak.com
Address: 2320 East Dowling Rd, Anchorage 99507
We also offer an after-hours phone line for general guidance only. This service does not constitute medical advice or treatment, and is not a substitute for emergency care. Callers are advised that any guidance provided is not a substitute for in-person veterinary examination.
After-Care & Follow-Up
Once your visit is complete, you will be provided with:
● A discharge summary with care instructions
● Any necessary medications or prescriptions
● A clear plan for follow-up, including referral to your primary care veterinarian
If further care is required beyond what we can provide (e.g., overnight monitoring, specialty surgery), we will make reasonable efforts to coordinate a referral to a 24-hour facility, transfer relevant medical records, and notify the receiving team in advance to ensure a smooth transition. However, we cannot guarantee the availability or acceptance of care at other facilities.
Coordination with Your Primary Veterinarian
We are not a primary care provider and do not offer ongoing wellness services. We work in collaboration with your regular veterinarian to support urgent needs. After your visit, all medical records and diagnostics will be sent to your primary care team to ensure continuity of care.
